About the Teacher

 

A versatile performer, Ewa Telega is an active soloist, collaborative pianist and accompanist, best known for her vivid performances of the works of Frederic Chopin. She has concertized in her native Poland, Switzerland, USA, and Canada. Ewa is a regular performer at concerts and festivals in the Lower Mainland. Recent performance highlights include Mozart’s Double Piano Concerto jointly with pianist Betty Suderman as featured artists in 2018 CSO Piano Extravaganza. She played continuo for Vivaldi’s Four Season in performances with Vancouver Island Symphony under the direction of Pierre Simard and with Calvin Dyck in the Envision Twilight Concert Series.  In performance of two piano part of Brahms’ German Requiem, Ewa collaborated with Betty Suderman and Valley Festival Singers under the direction of Tony Funk.

In 2006 Ewa was invited to give a command performance for the leader of the Polish Solidarity Movement, Lech Wałęsa in Los Angeles. In 2023, Ewa, together with the conductor, Hans Kruger, founded Freedom Celebration Singers.

In great demand, Ewa served as a collaborative pianist for the music departments of California State University, Los Angeles and Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Langley, British Columbia as well as on the faculty of Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford, BC.

Maintaining a private teaching studio for three decades, first in Long Beach, California, and now in Abbotsford, British Columbia, she teaches piano and theory to students ranging from beginning through advanced levels, including adults; many of her often award-winning students participate in festivals, RCM exams, recitals and masterclasses. Adept to solving technical problems and combining technique with musicality, her students progress quickly and efficiently.

Ewa Telega graduated with Honours in Piano Performance from the Academy of Music in Lodz, Poland and received her Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Piano Performance from the University of California, Irvine.
